MAJOR GIFTS PROGRAM

Opera Company of Middlebury’s Act 2 needs YOU! 

OCM’s “Act 1” has been an extraordinary success, and after 23 seasons, we have grown into one of the most respected and creative regional opera companies in the country. OCM challenges expectations, making opera more relevant, more accessible, and more unforgettable.

Inspired by our most generous donors, we launched the Major Gifts Program in 2025. This is how we plan to secure our BRIGHT and BOLD future and do our part in keeping this valuable art form alive, for our next 25 years, and beyond!

To secure OCM’s future, we need:

  1. A fully staffed organization to sustain year round operations

  2. Competitive compensation for our talented artists

  3. The financial stability to steward and grow OCM infrastructure

  4. To professionalize OCM and maintain a level of excellence in-line with peer companies 


The Challenge

The model that sustained 23 successful seasons is no longer viable.
Rising artist fees and operating costs are making it harder to meet industry standards — putting our artistic excellence and the wellbeing of our small, overextended staff at risk at a time when public and corporate support for the arts continues to decline.

The Plan

Major Gifts Program

We’re inviting a group of core visionary donors, like yourself, to join our Major Gifts Program at OCM. We are hoping for donors to join this program with an initial three year pledge, starting with a minimum gift of $10,000. Your support will help build the infrastructure for the next 25 years of exceptional opera in Vermont.

Our Program Goals

  • Raise an additional $250,000 in  the next year

  • Establish an annual operating budget of $650,000 by 2028

  • Build a new culture of major giving to sustain OCM into the future
